Here's some basic slide guitar in the style of Elmore James.

You can use the slide on all the notes.

The song can be played in open D (D-A-D-F#-A-D) or open E (E-B-E-G#-B-E)

Pay attention to the notes that have a slide symbol/line preceding them, and do slide up to these notes from a few frets below ... use your ear for what sound best to you ... ie. where to start the slide before stopping at the designated note.

Make sure you 'fret' (stop) directly over the fret called for ... not behind the fret.

Slide cleanly ... no rattles or fret sounds/buzzing, please.

Play this against a steady 12-bar blues shuffle rhythm ... slow, medium, or fast.

Elmore James used lots of these licks/riffs to play slow blues songs, as well as fast songs ... so start out slow, and add speed as you get more accurate with your slide.

Once you've got the positions down well ... try to improvise.

As always ... have fun.
