Okay ... this is one of Charley Patton's most popular tunes. Lots of Delta musicians had their own version of "Pony Blues" ... who 'originated' the song is up for discussion elsewhere ... Patton recorded two versions of the song, "Pony Blues" and "Stoney Pony Blues."

Watch the weird chord positions ... watch for the bends ... and the hammer-on ... and just take your time and, like always, play slowly ... learning one measure at a time ... and take your time ... enjoy the process ... and you can speed it up a bit once you have it all 'under your blues belt."

Enjoy the Delta blues of Charley Patton.

Cheers,

Hawkeye

and here's page 2 of Charley Patton's "Stoney Pony Blues."

Remember ... play slowly ... be accurate ... enjoy the process.

Hawkeye

Just wanted to thank you for putting up all this stuff.
Altough I don't seem to find there is enough hours in the day to practice all this stuff along with my other stuff but you can be sure it all gets printed off and is on my list of things to do. all I need now is start getting 28 hour days and a 9 day week.

Bluesman666,

You're most welcome. Thanks for the comments.

I put a a bunch of transcriptions, at least a dozen, in all different styles ... over period of about two weeks ... as i begin my tummer blues festival touring very soon, and will not have much time in the months to come to put up more ... I have requests for particular tunes and artists by others here at the BBF ... and I hope to get around to them as time allows.

In the meantime ... thanks for enjoying what's already posted ... and please remember ... the days may never be long enough ... but every time you pick up your guitar ... regardless of for how long ... you improve ... so just be sure to keep the guitar handy ... and do what you can, when you can.

Thanks again for your message.

Cheers,

Hawkeye

RC,

Thanks for the message and thoughtful sentiments. Very much appreciated.

Below is a brief explanation of tablature and how to read it. This is about as concise as I can make it ... the bare essentials ... it's actually pretty easy ... "Put your fingers here, and do this," .... is what tablature is trying to tell you.

Again, thanks so much.

Cheers,

Hawkeye
